Chandigarh: Slamming demands for clemency for
militant Davinderpal Singh Bhullar who is on death row, the
All India Anti Terrorist Front (AIATF) on Sunday said that he
should be hanged at the earliest so that justice is done.

"The political parties, including Congress are not taking
the issue of terrorism seriously. Terrorism is flourishing in
the country due to political interference," AIATF chairperson
Maninderjit Singh Bitta told reporters here.

Bhullar was convicted in the case of bomb blast in front
of All India Youth Congress office in 1990`s in which
Bitta was injured.

In Punjab, ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Punjab
Congress chief Amarinder Singh have favoured that capital
punishment awarded to Bhullar be commuted to life
imprisonment. Bitta also castigated Delhi Chief Minister
Shiela Dixit for supporting the demand.
He parried a query on whether Indian death row prisoner
Sarabjeet Singh languishing in a jail in Pakistan for serial
blasts should be given clemency.

He demanded that Bhullar should be hanged soon so that
the justice is done.

On the occasion, Bitta honoured a woman from Gujarat who
informed the police after learning of her husband`s terror
links and sought president`s medal for her.

Reshma Rangrej had alerted police about her husband
Shehzad, who was arrested on July 19 for keeping crude bombs
from Dani Limda area of Ahmedabad.
"My husband drinks a lot. On that night he was intoxicated
and had a bomb in his hand. When I questioned him he beat me
up and somehow I escaped and called the police," Reshma said.

Shehzad Rangrej is now in the custody of Anti-Terrorist
Squad (ATS).
