Kerala: Bitti Mohanty, who was arrested, and has been detained, in Kannur in Kerala since last year, after he escaped from parole while serving sentence in Rajasthan in a rape case, was taken to Jaipur today on demand by Rajasthan police.

Police here said Bitty was taken by train to Jaipur by Kerala police after a local court relaxed its earlier order that restricted him from being shifted from the special sub-jail here.

Rajasthan police sought Bitti`s shifting to Alwar prison where he had served the sentence without completing the entire term.

After escaping from parole, Bitti had arrived in Kerala and managed to secure a job in a public sector bank allegedly through impersonation. He was arrested by Kerala police in March 2013 based on clues offered by some employees of the bank, who grew suspicious of his true identity.

Son of former Odisha DGP B B Mohanty, Bitty was sentenced to seven years` rigorous imprisonment for raping a German tourist in Alwar (Rajasthan) in 2006.
