New Delhi: BJP on Friday took potshots at
Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh for his comments
that it is time Rahul Gandhi became Prime Minister, saying
he should make up his mind before making comments.
"Sometimes Digvijay Singh says Rahul Gandhi should get
married, sometimes he says Rahul should become the Prime
Minister. First let him decide what he thinks Rahul Gandhi
should do," BJP vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.
He was replying to a question on the reported remarks
of Singh on Rahul Gandhi`s birthday on June 19 that he should
become the Prime Minister.
"I think it is time that Rahul can become the Prime
Minister... Rahul is now 40 and he has been working for the
party for the last seven to eight years," Singh had said.
"The scion of the Gandhi family had the right
qualities, instincts and experience to take up the mantle of
prime ministership now," he added.
Singh has also told the media on other occasions that
Rahul`s father, Rajiv Gandhi, had become Prime Minister at the
age of 40 and it is time for Rahul to follow suit.
Earlier, Singh had also stated that Rahul Gandhi should
get married now.
