Marseille coach Marcelo Bielsa has hit out at Morgan Amalfitano, accusing the out-of-favour midfielder of committing a "serious and inexplicable mistake" at a training session.
Amalfitano, who has made one appearance for France, was told to train away from the first-team squad on Thursday but insisted on joining in and Bielsa chose to abandon the session as the player refused to walk away. Argentine coach Bielsa, who took over at the Stade Velodrome in the close season said Amalfitano "committed a serious and inexplicable mistake. He did not behave in the right way in front of his team-mates, who have supported him over the last 60 days. "We continue to understand his situation but anybody would have seen what he did as an act of defiance against authority and taken identical measures." Marseille have announced that they will take disciplinary action against the 29-year-old, who has a year remaining on his contract but could return to England, where he impressed while on loan last season at West Bromwich Albion. He has been linked with Premier League sides Queen`s Park Rangers, Sunderland and West Ham United.
