BJP firm on demand on JPC Probe

Kochi: The BJP stood by its demand for JPC probe into the 2G Spectrum scam, Opposition leader in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, on Monday said.
NDA leaders will meet tomorrow to discuss the issue, Swaraj told reproters here when asked about the party`s stand in the light of one man committee of Justice Shivraj Patil, which went into the procedures for giving 2G licences between 2001-2009 giving its report.
`The scenario does not change with the submision of the report. That demand remains`, she said.
`We are insisting on JPC as issues of governance has to be discussed. We want JPC to disucss the larger issues. It is a question mark on Indian Polity, she said.
The BJP leader refused to comment on the 2G report saying it has just been submitted to Telecom minister, Kapil Sibal, and has not been made public.
When pointed that Home minister, P Chidambaram, had conceeded that the meeting to select PJ Thomas as CVC last year had discussed the Palmolein case against him (Thomas) and the BJP leader had disagreed with the other two members of the 3-member committee, swaraj`s response was `If Chidamabaram has conceeded, I am very happy`. The CVC has to be impeccable person.
On allegations about two former judges of kerala high court being bribed in the Ice cream parlour sex case, she said corruption has become a phenomenon in society. Be it legislature, executive or judiciary.
However, when specificially asked about the allegations against the relatives of NHRC Chairperson and former CJI K G Balakrishnan, she refused to comment saying the matter was sub judice.
The BJP leader also refused to comment on the Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa`s claims of threat to his life from black magic. `I have not seen such a statement`, she said.
