New Delhi: On the first anniversary of the
Mumbai terror attack next week, BJP will demand a debate in
Parliament on the progress made in the case and on the state
of Indo-Pak relations.
"On the first anniversary of 26/11 attacks next week we
will demand a debate in Parliament on the state of Indo-Pak
relations and the progress made in the terror attack case,"
Deputy Leader of BJP in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said.
A notice for debate in both Houses will be put forward by
the main opposition on November 26 itself.
BJP had demanded a tough government stand against Pakistan
after the Mumbai terror attack once it became clear that the
bosses of the perpetrators were based in Pakistan and were
directing the operation from there. Even the terrorists are
said to have been trained in the neighbouring country.
Lack of co-operation from Pakistan despite dossiers from
India, the Indian government's agreement in Sharm-el-Sheikh to
inclusion of the clause delinking composite dialogue from
terror and the mention of Balochistan in the agreement gave
BJP a handle to take on the UPA government.
The BJP has also demanded that India should exert
pressure, including international diplomatic pressure, on
Pakistan to hand over 26/11 accused and Jamaat-ud-Dawa Chief
Hafiz Saeed and other culprits.
The party has also demanded that compensation be paid
soon to victims of the Mumbai terror attack.
It has taken up the cause of victims and even approached
the National Human Rights Commission, arguing that in several
cases the government had not yet fulfilled its promise of
providing relief.
