Patna: BJP today slammed the "so-called"
secular parties for treating the minorities as their votebank
and claimed that it wanted development of the Muslims in
saffron-party ruled states.
BJP-ruled states had worked for the betterment of
the minorities and improvement of their socio-economic
conditions, besides its advocacy for bringing them into
national mainstream, BJP spokesperson Shahanwaz Hussain told
reporters here. Muslims no more treated the saffron party as a
political anathema, he said.
Muslims too were filled with the nationalist feelings
and wanted to contribute as much as their brethren to help the
country become a superpower, Hussain - the BJP Lok Sabha
member from Bhagalpur said.
Such a nationalist sentiment had brought a large
number of Muslims into the BJP family and many more may follow
suit much to the discomfiture of the secular outfits, Hussain
On whether the BJP`s plans to give representation to
the Muslim candidates in the ensuing Bihar assembly, Hussain
said that the saffron party would distribute tickets on the
factors like winnability and not on the basis of caste, creed
or religion on the aspirants.
