New Delhi: The Congress` comments on L K
Advani`s blog on Monday left the BJP fuming with the main
opposition accusing the ruling party of behaving in "Stalinist
manner" and using foul language instead of introspecting on
what even its own leader Rajiv Gandhi had stated about it.
"We take severe objections to the kind of language
with which Congress instead of getting into introspective
mode, attacks anyone who speaks the facts about it.... this is
a Stalinist kind of reaction from the Congress party," BJP
spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said.

Advani had stated in his blog yesterday that Congress
always had a rotational system of Presidentship and even
Mahatma Gandhi had chaired only the Belgaum plenary of the
party in 1924. He pointed out that this had changed now and
presidentship of the party had become a "family monopoly".

This had led to the Congress to retort that the
comments had come from a man who had lost power even within
his own party.
"These are the frustrated outbursts of the person, who
has used the same allegations to make a bid for the Prime
Minister`s office but has instead been reduced to the
permanent position of PM-in-waiting," Congress spokesperson
Abhishek Manu Singhvi said.

Sitharaman today said that the Congress spokesperson
should refer to the speech of his leader Rajiv Gandhi at the
centenary celebrations of the party at Mumbai.

"Congress should refer to Rajiv Gandhi`s 1985
centenary speech in which he had said that Congress party is
no longer the Congress party of the time of his mother and his
grandfather. I do not know if Congress spokesperson will
reserve the same words for Rajiv Gandhi. He had said we should
look ourselves in the mirror of truth. I wish the Congress
party does that today," Sitharaman said.

The BJP said the Congress was indulging in a knee-jerk
reaction to Advani`s comments.

"A party which does not know how to handle itself. A
party which has no direction for this country. A party which
is completely sunk in corruption. And a party which does not
even know how to attend to price rise issue of the aam admi
has shown its knee-jerk reaction when remotely somebody refers
to the failure of Congress to keep up its own traditions,"
Sitharaman said.

Sitharaman charged that the there is a "complete loss
of leadership and complete confusion" in the Congress about
who is leading the party.

"They are going on a twin track leadership. There is
no democracy left in the party," she said.

The BJP insisted that Advani had only referred to the
functioning of the Congress party in the earlier days.

"That has been completely eroded under the current
leadership. And in saying that why should there be so much of
perturbation? They need not be so agitated to respond in such
foul language. And attack with such bad language anyone who
speaks about one family controlling the Congress party,"
Sitharaman said.

She took a jab at Singhvi, saying he has forgotten
that "flattery can also be done in a very sophisticated way".
