New Delhi: Already reeling under Jharkhand
Chief Minister Shibu Soren`s "betrayal", the BJP today decided
to issue notice seeking explanation from three of the five of
its MPs who were absent from the Lok Sabha during voting on
the cut motion.

Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj told reporters
that the party will issue notice to MPs Makhkhan Singh, S
Pakkirappa and D V Sadananda Gowda who were not present for
voting yesterday.

However, Swaraj said that two other absentee members
Ramakant Yadav and Baliram Kashyap had valid reasons for their
not being present. Yadav is in jail while Kashyap could not
participate in the voting as he is "too unwell".

The party is not satisfied with the explanations given by
the other three and will serve them show-cause notices, she
said.

Makhkhan Singh has reportedly told Swaraj that he could
not leave his village in Madhya Pradesh due to some reason
while Pakkirappa, a relative of Bellary baron Sriramulu, has
also given an unsatisfactory answer.

Gowda told the top brass that he had to be present in his
district due to municipal and mayoral elections.
