New Delhi: BJP Parliamentary Party Chairman
L K Advani, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj
and party president Nitin Gadkari will attend the funeral of
CPI(M) patriarch Jyoti Basu in Kolkata on Tuesday.
Advani, who was in Mumbai yesterday at the time of Basu`s
death, had announced that he will attend the last rites of the
veteran Marxist leader.
Gadkari had planned to visit Kolkata today to pay respect
to the departed leader but changed his plans and will now
accompany Advani to the funeral.
Swaraj, who described Basu as a tall and experienced
leader whom the BJP respected despite ideological differences,
has also decided to attend his last rites.
Basu, 95, breathed his last yesterday morning in a Kolkata
hospital after multiple organ failure.
BJP and RSS leaders have condoled his death, describing
him as one of the tallest leaders of contemporary politics.
