"Eighteen police personnel were killed in the Mumbai
terror attacks. The court has found Ajmal Kasab guilty but two
other accused have been acquitted. The state government should
appeal against them," BJP Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha Gopinath
The Mumbai court acquitted Faheem Ansari and Sabauddin
Ahmed, both accused of helping Lashkar-e-Toiba in carrying out
the terror plot.
BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain welcomed the verdict
in the 26/11 case but insisted that time has come for the
phase of terror in the country to stop. "Action should be
taken as soon as possible against those involved in terror,"
On the larger issue of fight against terrorism, another
senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu said his party felt Home
Minister P Chidambaram is making big statements but should
"also walk the talk".
He accused the UPA government of lacking in "cohesion and
clarity" on the issue and alleged there was no unity on how to
fight Naxalism, terrorism and insurgency.
"There is no clarity and coordination in the Congress...
Some of them are mixing terror with religion," he said,
adding, some Congress leaders "were singing a different tune"
in the fight against terror.
