Erode: Stating that reading of `quality
books` would certainly develop the knowledge of the youth and
lead to a `knowledge revolution` in India, former President
A P J Abdul Kalam has said every one should spend atleast an
hour daily for reading books.
Delivering valedictory address at a book festival
organised by the `Makkal Sindhanai Peravai` (People`s Thinkers
Forum) here yesterday, he appealed to the parents to render
their cooperation to their wards to start a mini library in
every house and wanted the parents also to read the books.
Reading of books would reform a person and help him or her
to lead a proper disciplined life, he said, and added that
character building would happen by reading books.
He said, "books are my best companion and helps me a lot
in developing himself to become a scientist. Book reading will
help the society as a whole and instead of wasting their time,
men and women, youth and children should spend atleast an hour
to read books daily."
