Braille version of Tagore`s `Gitanjali` launched

A braille version of Rabindranath Tagore`s `Gitanjali` in Bengali was today launched at Narendrapur Ramkrishna Mission campus today.

Narendrapur Ramkrishna Mission campus today.

Coinciding with the 150th birth anniversary year of the
poet, the braille version book was published by the Blind Boys
Akademy of the ashram in two volumes costing rupees nine each.

The publication was done in three months time, ashram
sources said. Each volume had 118 pages.

The Braille Press functioning in the ashram since 1967
has till date published over 1000 books in braille, including
the short stories of Tagore, text books and Mahashweta Devi`s
novels.

Tagore got the Nobel prize for literature for `Gitanjali`
in 1913. The book had an introduction by William B Yeats.
