Lucknow: Accusing the BSP government in the
state of patronising criminals, Samajwadi Party today said
officers in the present regime have become helpless and have
to shield criminals under pressure.

"While FIRs were not registered by the police in genuine
cases, false cases were lodged against SP workers to harass
them. The officers have become helpless and are working under
pressure of the government to shield criminals," SP state unit
chief Akhilesh Yadav told reporters here.

"Since 2008 four engineers have been killed and 10
attacked for extortion and other related incidents. There
were 91 murders in Saharanpur range and 225 murders in Meerut
range in recent months," he said.
