New Delhi: The government on Thursday approved Rs 846 crore Adriyala Shaft mining project of state-run Singareni Collieries Company Ltd, which will feed NTPC's Ramagundam unit in Andhra Pradesh.

SCCL is expected to mine annually 2.81 million tonnes of coal from the project, an official statement said here.

"The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure today approved the project of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd for a coal production capacity of 2.81 million tonnes per year and an overall outlay of Rs 846.06 crore and a net capital investment of Rs 779.26 crores (after accounting for the revenues projected to be generated during the construction period and related capitalization of revenue expenditure)," it said.

The coal mined in the project will be sourced by NTPC's 2600 MW power plant in Ramagundam in the southern state.

"This coal production will meet the demand of NTPC Ramagundam," it added.
