London: Britain`s prestigious Cambridge
university has put online a unique archive of lectures in
memory of Jawaharlal Nehru.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Trust lectures, which have
been taking place since 1966, can be read on the website of
the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust.
The texts of 30 lectures are available to date. Topics
range from Nehru`s impact on the development of his country,
to entrepreneurship and the media in modern India.
Speakers include prominent Indian and British
politicians, artists and business people, as well as
Prince Hassan of Jordan and Professor Linda Colley, a
university release said.
The Cambridge Commonwealth Trust and the Jawaharlal
Nehru Memorial Trust work together to co-fund scholarships for
Indian students in Cambridge.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Trust was founded in 1964
by The Earl Mountbatten of Burma, in memory of his friend the
late Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India.
The Trust has two main aims -- to present this notable
lecture series and award scholarships for study at the
University of Cambridge to outstanding Indian students in the
fields of science, technology and humanities.
The 2010 lecture will take place on November 24 at
Chatham House, London.
Entitled `Britain, Gandhi and Nehru`, it will be given by
Gopalkrishna Gandhi, the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi and former
Governor of West Bengal.
