CBI court awards prison term to 15 in multi-cr fodder scam

Ranchi, July 02: A CBI court today ordered jail sentence to 15 persons in the multi-crore fodder scam, ranging from four to five years, for fraudulent withdrawal of money from a treasury.

The Special CBI court of Pankaj Kumar awarded five-year imprisonment to M Prasad, Mohammand Sayeed and Vijya Kumar Mahato, all fodder suppliers, and slapped Rs 25-40 lakh as fine on them.

The remaining 12 convicts were sentenced to four-year imprisonment and the court slapped Rs 90,000-Rs 20 lakh fine on them.

On June 30, the court had convicted a total of 48 persons in one of the fodder scam case, including 16 former government officials, for fraudulently withdrawing Rs 11.09 crore from the Doranda treasury under the then Bihar government in the 1990s.

While the court had already pronounced the quantum of punishment against 40 convicts, it would deliver the same against the remaining eight tomorrow.
