Ghaziabad: The CBI on Saturday inducted over 40
"GenNext" sub-inspectors adept at carrying out investigation
into cyber crimes, fake Indian currency notes and economic
offences as part of its efforts to revamp the premier agency.

CBI Director Ashwani Kumar administered the oath to 43
officers, who underwent rigorous training for over a year, to
serve the country and fight corruption at its training academy
here.
"We have trained you to become the GenNext investigation
officers, the kind of officers CBI and this country needs
today. We have demilitarised your training and focused more
on giving you the inputs which are required more in the field
and have also tried to make your training more sophisticated
and in tune with the changing time and demands," Kumar said
during the investiture ceremony.

The officers, trained in law, general and specialised
investigation, cyber crime, cyber forensics, typing, driving,
unarmed combat, soft skills, group dynamics and leadership
skills will join the different departments of the
investigation agency.

Officers were asked to give more emphasis on extensive
use of modern investigation tools like using the latest
software and gadgets which would be useful in their work.

The CBI has also decided to change certain rules to
ensure career growth and promotions to its officers.
"We have decided to change the rules so that constables
and sub-inspectors get promotion in every eight years. All
officers should get three to four promotions in their career
based on their performance," Kumar said.

He asked the sub-inspectors to maintain the "image of the
CBI" while performing their duties.

"You (officers) are the face of this organisation. The
image of CBI will largely depend on you -- the way you
investigate, the way you conduct yourself in the field during
various operations, the experience of the public during
interaction with you all form the general public perception
about CBI," Kumar said.

He asked the newly inducted officers to not deviate from
their goals by falling prey to the lure of material things and
glamour.

"A person can only be a good officer if he is a good
human being. You must remember that your services in the next
3-4 decades will demand the highest degree of integrity,
honesty, dedication and selflessness.

"You will come across moments when the lust for glamour
and material things will try to deviate you from your
cherished goal...that is the moment when your inner strength
should be able to guide you to the right direction," the
director said.

Other than undergoing training, the 12th batch of sub
inspectors went on a 14-day study tour to different cities
including Bhopal, Jaipur and Ahmedabad.
