CBI lodges 11 FIRs against lawyers
The special investigation cell of CBI has lodged 11 FIRs against lawyers allegedly having criminal background following an order from Allahabad High Court`s Lucknow bench.

Court`s Lucknow bench.
"11 FIRs have been lodged against lawyers with
criminal antecedents yesterday," a CBI official said.
"The cases have been apparently shortlisted on the
basis of the seriousness of the crime committed by a lawyer.
And to start with 11 cases were shortlisted following which the FIRs have been lodged," he said.
These FIRs pertain to cases pending with the Lucknow
police wherein lawyers have been accused of heinous crimes
like murder and attempt to murder.
The move comes in the wake of the directives issued by
the Allahabad High Court`s Lucknow bench comprising Justices
Umanath Singh and V K Dixit on October 26, wherein the court
had asked the agency to identify lawyers with criminal
The court directive came on a complaint filed by
lawyer Prashant Singh Gaur alleging that he was brutally
assaulted, ridiculed and humiliated by his colleagues on
September 29 when he went to represent his client in a civil
case pending before the court of civil judge.
A status report on the progress of investigation would
be filed by the CBI-SIC before the double bench of Allahabad
High Court on November 29.
