New Delhi: In the last five years, CBI
has registered more than 500 cases of disproportionate assets
against government officials and people occupying
constitutional posts.
"The CBI has registered 517 disproportionate assets
cases since January 2004 to October 2009," Minister of State
for Personnel Prithviraj Chavan said in a written reply to
Rajya Sabha.
A total of 75 cases were registered in 2004, 147 cases
in 2005, 78 cases in 2006, 79 cases in 2007, 86 in 2008 and 52
cases till October 2009.
The government is fully committed to implement its
policy of zero tolerance against corruption and is moving
progressively to eradicate corruption from all spheres of life
by improving transparency and accountability. Several steps
have been taken to combat corruption and improve the
functioning of government, Chavan said.
