Port Blair: BJP leader L K Advani on Saturday
demanded that the CBI should be made an autonomous body to
probe cases of corruption and scams in the country.
"The CBI was `misused` by the government and should
therefore be an autonomous entity," Advani, who visited
Andaman as part of his Jan Chetna Yatra, told reporters here.
"The CBI should be given a free hand and more power to
deal with corruption," he said.
He said that his yatra was not only against corruption,
but also on the issue of black money stashed in foreign banks.
The government must use the money after it was brought
back for accelerating the pace of development, Advani said.
Advani, who arrived here last evening, left for Raipur
in Chhattisgarh in the afternoon.
