Central, state govt departments owe over Rs 79 crore to DD

Various central and state government departments, including Public Sector Undertakings, owe Rs 79.66 crore to national broadcaster Doordarshan, the government said.

New Delhi: Various central and state government departments, including Public Sector Undertakings, owe Rs 79.66 crore to national broadcaster Doordarshan, the government said on Wednesday.

This was stated by Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.

"Prasar Bharati has informed that various central and state government departments, including Public Sector Undertakings etc. Have total outstanding dues to the tune of Rs 79,66,30,752 to Doordarshan as on May 31, 2014," Javadekar said.
He said the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) owed an amount of Rs 6,94,91,429 to Doordarshan and added that it pertained to the advertisement released in the last quarter of 2013-14.

It is a normal process of bill settlement, he stated.
Responding to another question, Javadekar gave details of the advertisement revenue of Doordarshan as per which its gross revenue in 2011-12 was Rs 1100.27 crore and Rs 1298.16 crore in 2012-13. In the year 2013-14 Doordarshan`s gross revenue was Rs 1295.86 crore while in Rs 2014-15 (upto May 2014) it is Rs 87.76 crores.
