New Delhi: In an effort to accelerate rural
development programmes across the country, the Centre is
working to prepare a fresh action plan by "re-engineering"
activities adopted for the implementation of various schemes.
In this context, Ministry of Rural Development has
organised a two-day workshop here in the Capital beginning
"The focus (of the workshop) will be on the endeavour to
design and deploy innovative means to promote dissemination of
information and knowledge, encourage participation of people,
strengthen vigilance and public accountability and ensure
proper delivery of benefits of the government programmes to
the people," a ministry official said.
At the workshop, each department and division, associated
with the implementation of government`s rural development
programmes, will share their policy documents, including
guidelines and latest instructions, best practices and
innovations with the focus on state wise physical and
financial performance and areas of concern.
"This will be used in preparing action plan for
re-engineering activities to accelerate rural development by
the Ministry Of Rural Development, Ministry Of Panchayati Raj,
Ministry Of Information and Broadcasting, Ministry Of Youth
Affairs and Sports, apart from state governments and other
stakeholders, including regional Doordarshan Kendras and Radio
stations," the official said.
The deliberations at the workshop will aim at learning
and sharing from the experiences of the participants and
developing appropriate strategies to implement the flagship
programmes under the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj
Ministries more effectively, he said.
Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ambika
Soni and Union Minister for Rural Development C P Joshi would
lead the deliberations at the workshop, he added.
