Centre for quota to backward Muslims: Digvijay

Lucknow: The central government would soon grant reservation to backward Muslims as promised in the 2009 election manifesto, Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh said here on Saturday.

He promised to implement it in Uttar Pradesh once Congress comes to power after the 2012 assembly elections.

Singh claimed Muslims were not getting the expected benefit under the backwards quota and so on the basis of 2013 caste based census, their separate quota would be fixed.

Yes, govt should cater for all Indians, there should not be any classifications. They can go back to their religious country where they belong.

If there is quota for backward Hindus, Muslims, Christians, others, then why not abolish this and come with quota for backward Indians, regardless of religion and community? With seperate quotas existing, this is nothing else but communal politics. All parties would agree with a comman quota policy for any backward Indian, except Congress party.
