New Delhi: The Centre is deploying over 400
personnel of National Disaster Response Force along the
coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh to meet any exigencies arising
out of cyclone `Laila`, which is expected to hit the state
tomorrow morning.

A total of 438 personnel of NDRF along with 64 inflatable
boats and search and rescue equipment are being sent to the
state. The men would be deployed in Vishakhapatnam,
Vijayawada, Machhallpatanam, Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore.

Coastal districts in Andhra Pradesh have been
experiencing heavy rains since this morning under the
influence of the cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal.

The system is likely to intensify further and move
towards northwesterly to northerly direction and cross the
Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and Kakinada by tomorrow
morning, Met officials said.

A high alert has been sounded in coastal regions and
revenue officials have started evacuating people from some
areas of Visakhapatnam, Krishna, West and East Godavari
districts, official sources said.
