Kochi: A case has been registered against the courier company which sent a consignment of boric powder and chemicals in a plastic bag, from which smoke emanated as it was being loaded onto a Kingfisher airlines Kochi-Chennai flight on Sunday.

The Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL), the airport company, has also decided to impose a temporary ban on the operations of the courier company, Blue Dart.

Airport officials on Sunday had said that preliminary examination had found that the chemicals came under the category of "dangerous item".

CIAL has also ordered an internal probe into the incident.

Police has also submitted an FIR in the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court at nearby Aluva on the incident.
