Aizawl: Union Home Minister P Chidambaram
who was scheduled to arrive here on Wednesday for one-day visit to
Mizoram cancelled his programme due to inclement weather,
official sources said.
The officials said that Chidambaram, who was in Tripura, cancelled his programme and flew back to New Delhi from Tripura after it was learned that visibility at Mizoram`s Lengpui airport near here was extremely poor for landing the BSF aircraft.
He was scheduled to land at a playground in Suarhliap village of Mizoram Tripura border Mamit district by helicopter from Lengpui and address a public meeting at Bru-dominated Damdiai village.
The sources said that the sole purpose of the Home Minister`s visit was the Bru repatriation issue and was scheduled to meet state Governor Lt General (retd) M M Lakhera and Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla and his cabinet colleagues in Aizawl.
