Govt has enhanced security of PC and Home Secy as Maoists plan to attak them after Azad`s killing.
New Delhi: Faced with fresh threat from
Maoists, the government has enhanced the security of Home Minister P Chidambaram and Union
Home Secretary Gopal K Pillai by upgrading the weapons of his
personal security officers.
Sources said the PSOs of Pillai have started carrying
AK-47s, instead of earlier small arms, wherever he goes after
a review of his security by concerned officials.
The decision to upgrade the weapons of PSOs have taken
following Intelligence inputs that the Left Wing extremists
may try to attack him, especially after the killing of top
Maoists leader Azad.
Intelligence Bureau had received inputs that Maoists are planning a strike on the minister and his aide.
Sixty-year-old Pillai currently enjoys `Y` category
security with an escort vehicle and two PSOs.
