New Delhi: Taking strong exception to the
reports that China was constructing a dam on Brahmaputra,
Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today asked Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh to take up the issue with the neighbouring
country.
However, the Prime Minister told the Chief Minister China
has not constructed any dam on Brahmaputra and there was need
for worry, sources said.
During the 20-minute meeting, Gogoi discussed with Singh
issues concerning state, including law and order, insurgency
and boundary dispute with neighbouring states.
The Chief Minister also apprised the Prime Minister about
the developmental initiatives taken by his government and
sought financial assistance.
The Prime Minister assured all help, sources said.
