Chinese dam will not impact Brahmaputra: Krishna New Delhi: China has assured India that a dam it is constructing on the Tsang Po river in Tibet for generating power will not impact downstream flow to the Brahmaputra, External Affairs Minister SM Krishna said Thursday.

"It is a fact that when we met in Beijing, the question of the power station did come up. The Chinese foreign minister assured me that there would be no water storage at the dam and it would not in any way impact on downstream areas," Krishna said during question hour in Rajya Sabha.

Krishna was responding to a supplementary from Ravi Shankar Prasad of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the impact of the Chinese dam, since there was no water sharing treaty between India and China.

The construction of Dam on River Bharamputra will tame the river furry during the Monsoon season but it will be a negative impact on the flow of river water as the discharge from the dam will have specific cusic discharge , All the canal irrigation system available on the river Bharamputra will face technical problems the reason discharge will be receeded and the flow of river water in the canals will be effected . As the discharge of Dam water will be on the desire of the Dam Authorties and during monsoon if the discharge is exceeded the delta area of River Bharamputra will have a major negative impact both to Agriculture revolution and Hydel Power generation in future and above all floods..
