CM to inaugurate renovated municipal market at Lodhi Road

The municipal market at Lodhi Road in south Delhi, which has been spruced up by the NDMC ahead of the Commonwealth Games, will be unveiled tomorrow.

New Delhi: The municipal market at Lodhi
Road in south Delhi, which has been spruced up by the NDMC
ahead of the Commonwealth Games, will be unveiled tomorrow.
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit will inaugurate the
renovated municipal market.

Built in 1945, this market known for its cloth shops has
been given a facelift at a cost of Rs one crore.

"The redevelopment work of the market included
restoration of outer facade of shops, putting up uniform
signboards, improving flooring, revamping lighting and making
other necessary changes," an NDMC official said.

There are 32 shops in the market. The civic agency has
used granite for flooring of the verandas and sandstone has
been used for pavements.
