New Delhi: Even as the BJP continued with its belligerent stand on the CAG coal report, the Samajwadi Party along with the Left and the TDP opened a new front against the UPA government on Thursday by demanding a probe into the issue by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court.

The decision to seek a probe by an SC judge was finalised after SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav met CPI(M) leader Basudeb Acharia, CPI`s Gurudas Dasgupta and TDP`s Nama Nageshwar Rao.

The three parties also decided to protest against the BJP’s adamant stand on not allowing the Parliament to function until Prime Minister Manmohan Singh resigns.

They also decided to hold a dharna outside Parliament tomorrow to demand restoration of normalcy in the House and a debate on the issue.

The meeting came in the backdrop of Parliament failing to transact any business for almost two weeks now, with the BJP continuing to create ruckus by pressing its demand for resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the issue.

Other Opposition parties, even those from the BJP-led NDA like JD(U) and Akali Dal, do not favour disruption of proceedings and have been demanding debate on the CAG report into the coal block allocation and other business.

As per reports, MPs of some other non-UPA parties are also likely to join the dharna and talks were on with them.

Meanwhile, pandemonium continued in the Parliament on Thursday with the BJP members in both houses shouting slogans against the government.

The ruckus forced Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari to adjourn both the houses on a day when Prime Minister`s statement on the coal allocation issue was listed for discussion.

Despite voices calling for rapprochement, the BJP appears in no mood to let the Parliament fu8nction. The party is also set to launch a nationwide protest on the issue tomorrow.
