Coast Guard apprehends 11 Sri Lankan fishermen
Indian Coast Guard Ship Vajra has apprehended two Sri Lankan fishing boats with 11 fishermen for "illegally" fishing in Indian waters.

Vajra has apprehended two Sri Lankan fishing boats with 11
fishermen for "illegally" fishing in Indian waters.
The Sri Lankan boats were sighted by Coast Guard Dornier
off Orissa coast as part of air co-ordinated surveillance
efforts yesterday and Vajra from Visakhapatnam on patrol was
vectored, which apprehended the two Sri Lankan boats poaching
in Indian Exclusive Economic Zone, an official release said
"The two boats along with 11 crew members are being
escorted to Paradip port and will be handed over to Orissa
Police by tomorrow morning. The nabbed Sri Lankans would be
booked under the Maritime Zone of India Act," a Coast Guard
The Coast Guard apprehended 25 Sri Lankan fishing boats in
2009-10 and 15 vessels so far this year. A total of 24 boats
have been repatriated to Sri Lanka on conclusion of their
cases, the release added.
