Cong arrogant due to increased strength in coalition govt: LJP

The LJP today slammed the UPA government on the issue of price rise, saying that the ruling Congress has become arrogant in its second term at the Centre due to its increased strength in the coalition.

New Delhi: The LJP today slammed the UPA
government on the issue of price rise and decontrolling of
petroleum prices, saying that the ruling Congress has become
arrogant in its second term at the Centre due to its increased
strength in the coalition.

The party also said that there was a major shift in the
policies of Congress-led UPA-II government due to change in
the nature of coalition as compared to the UPA-I regime.

"People`s mandate was that there should not be rise in
prices. Government did the wrong thing by decontrolling the
petroleum prices and clearly said there was no question of
changing its decision. What is this if this is not arrogance?"
LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan said at a press meet.

"... had we or Left parties been in the government, this
would not have happened," he said after a political resolution
of his party was passed here at a national convention of LJP
workers ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Bihar.

That Congress has become arrogant is in the sense that
it is not listening to people`s voice, Paswan charged.

The party`s political resolution, which was read out by a
leader at the convention in presence of Paswan, said it is of
the firm view that due to change in the nature of coalition in
UPA-I and UPA-II, there was a major shift in the policies and
priorities of this government in the last 14 months.

"This time the UPA-II is neither guided nor bound by any
common minimum programme. Its failure both at the social and
economic front is an open secrete now," it added.
