New Delhi: Congress on Thursday dismissed as
"totally baseless" BJP`s charge that P Chidambaram as
Finance Minister had played a role in the 2G spectrum scam.
"It is totally baseless and there is no truth in it,"
AICC general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said.
His remarks came close on the heels of BJP rejecting
Home Minister P Chidambaram`s "self-certified" non-involvement
in the 2G spectrum case.
Congress spokespersons have been maintaining that
these allegations against Chidambaram were unfounded. They
have been saying that if the opposition has any facts, they
should submit them to the Joint Parliamentary Committee which
is looking into the 2G spectrum scam.
BJP had ealrier noted that the Supreme Court, which is
monitoring the CBI investigations into 2G scam, has asked the
Income Tax department to produce the transcript related to the
conversation between Raja and Radia.
The BJP also brushed aside the explanation and defence
made by Chidambaram that it was not former Telecom Minister A
Raja, who had told corporate lobbyist Niira Radia of the
alleged pay-offs made to him, but RIL group employee KR Raja.
