Cong rubbishes charges that Centre rushed through ordinance

Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Tuesday said the speculation that the Centre rushed through the ordinance on convicted lawmakers to protect RJD chief Lalu Prasad was nothing but a "false notion".

New Delhi: Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Tuesday said the speculation that the Centre rushed through the ordinance on convicted lawmakers to protect RJD chief Lalu Prasad was nothing but a "false notion".

Singh continued to back the RJD chief saying, no serious case is made out against Prasad and he is hopeful that the Bihar leader will get a relief from a higher court.

He told reporters that the fodder scam issue had started when Congress leader Jagannath Mishra was Chief Minister of Bihar, and some officers were involved in it, who were also punished.

Singh is the lone leader from Congress who has been backing the RJD chief.

In Mysrore, he told reporters yesterday that he was "sad" about the fact that Prasad was found guilty.

"He has been a trusted and old partner of Congress," Singh said about the RJD chief.

A special CBI court convicted Yadav and 44 others in the fodder scam case yesterday.
