New Delhi: The BJP on Monday reacted to Congress
jibes against its senior leader L K Advani`s proposed anti-
corruption rathyatra and said each time somebody raises the
issue of graft, the ruling party acts as if it is suffering
from guilt conscience.

"Every time somebody raises the issue of corruption or
takes up the fight against this issue, the Congress acts as if
it is targeted against it," BJP vice-president Mukhtar Abbas
Naqvi said.

Congress had earlier in the day described Advani`s
forthcoming yatra as a "gimmick" and one "with B S Yeddyurappa
as charioter, Nishank Pokhriyal as foot soldier, Bangaru
Laxman and Dilip Singh Judeo as poster boys and Ananth Kumar
as Convenor".

Naqvi said Congress had attacked Anna Hazare when he
started his campaign against corruption and was now making
Advani the focus of its jibes.

"It seems the Congress is suffering from a guilt
conscience. Instead of wasting its energy on such exercises,
it would be better if it concentrated it on fighting
corruption," Naqvi said.

He alleged that the Congress-ruled government had
failed to control corruption and scams.

"Every time the argumentative and arrogant ministers
and spokespersons of our economist Prime Minister attack those
who speak against corruption, they confirm people`s doubts
about the involvement of Congressmen in scams," Naqvi said.
