The Congress accused BJP`s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi of not taking Mahatma Gandhi`s name even once during his meetings.

Ranchi: The Congress on Thursday accused BJP`s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi of not taking Mahatma Gandhi`s name even once during his meetings.
"Modi comes from the state of Gandhiji, but did not utter his name even once," AICC general secretary BK Hariprasad on Thursday alleged. Speaking at a function organised near the Gandhi Statue at Mohrabadi to mark the Mahatma`s 66th death anniversary, Prasad recalled the Gujarat riots and hit back at Modi`s continued appeal to the people to "free the country of Congress" during the latter`s meetings. "Even the British could not eliminate the Congress, leave aside Modi... People will free the nation from Modi," Prasad, who is the party`s in charge for Jharkhand, said. Urging people to "free the nation from Modi", he called upon party leaders and workers to unite and take along all sections of the people to accelerate the nation on the path of development. "...The divisive politics of BJP can`t keep the nation united," Prasad said. Speaking on the occasion, Congress MP and former Union minister Subodh Kant Sahay claimed, "The country will not accept Modi as PM as it moves forward on the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi."
