New Delhi: The country requires diplomats having some exceptional skills to meet the challenges of the fast changing world, Vice-President Hamid Ansari said on Friday.
Addressing a gathering of ex-diplomats here, Ansari said that new entrants to the service in many ways are brighter than their older generation.
He advised them to achieve skills that are important in the modern era of diplomacy.
"Because we live in a world of fellow professionals where national standards are not good enough. We need international standards...," Ansari, himself a former diplomat, said after releasing a book titled `Making of a Diplomat - Hone your skills` written by former diplomat Prem K Budhwar here.
The younger generation will be benefited with such a valuable book which gives an overview of the skills of diplomacy, he said.
Ansari congratulated the author for bringing out such a useful book for young aspirants of Indian Foreign Service.
