New Delhi: A Delhi court on Wednesday asked the
complainant to file documentary evidence to establish that
industrialist and Rajya Sabha MP Rahul Bajaj had played a role
in the alleged disfigurement of India's map on the website of
his group's partner company, Allianz.
"It is a criminal case. You (complainant Sanjay Sachdeva)
will have to prove specifically on record that it was Rahul
Bajaj who played a role in the case," Metropolitan Magistrate
Geetanjali Goel said.
The German insurance company's portal had allegedly
portrayed Jammu and Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh as part of
Pakistan and China respectively.
Perusing the status report filed today by the Parliament
Street police station, the court said the disfigurement of the
map, if any, had been committed by the German company and not
by the company led by Bajaj.
"Moreover, the company has apologised for the lapse," the
court said and posted the matter for November five.
The police, in its report, said the website belonged to
the German company which had already rectified the error.
Sachdeva, a member of Delhi Pradesh National Panthers
Party, had sought prosecution of Bajaj under section 124A
(sedition) of the Indian penal Code on the ground that
disfigurement of Indian map was an "anti-national" act.
The court had earlier asked Delhi Police to file a report
on the complaint against Bajaj.
