Lucknow/Mumbai: Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday condemned MNS legislators’ attack on party MLA Abu Azmi, during the oath taking ceremony inside the Maharashtra Assembly.
While defending Azmi’s move to take oath in Hindi, Mulayam said that the SP MLA was attacked by “cowards”.
He further congratulated Azmi for taking oath in Hindi, adding the party takes pride in it.
"I would like to congratulate Azmi for maintaining the honour of the national language by taking oath in Hindi," Yadav told reporters.
The SP supremo said that those, who fight for the ideology have to suffer a bit and added, "Entire nation will honour Azmi for taking oath in Hindi."
MNS legislator Ram Kadam meanwhile defended his party MLAs’ move to attack Azmi, saying “our (Marathi) culture must be honoured.
Kadam was the man who first attacked Azmi for taking oath in Hindi.
Unremorseful of his action, Kadam said that he was ready to face any action.
Debunking the claim that Azmi doesn’t know Marathi, he asked, “How much time does it take to learn four lines in Marathi?”

of Hindi.
"Azmi's family had opposed Hindi in Uttar Pradesh and
advocated Urdu as state language," Togadia told reporters here
saying he has no moral right to talk of Hindi.
