CRPF DG`s wife tells women personnel to approach her directly

Women constables and wives of CRPF personnel can now directly approach the first lady of their force in case they face any harassment at work or at home.

New Delhi: Women constables and wives of
CRPF personnel can now directly approach the first lady of
their force in case they face any harassment at work or at
home.

This was announced by Soni Srivastava, wife of CRPF
Director General Vikram Srivastava on the occasion of
International Womens day today.

"We have more than 5,800 women personnel in our
various ranks. The personnel of the force are deployed in hard
conditions and most of the time away from their families. The
women can approach me or the Director General directly if they
face any problem at work or at home," Srivastava said.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has two women
battalions (around 2,300 women) while the third `mahila`
battalion will be recruited during the next financial year to
perform law and order duties, internal security assignments
and serve in UN missions abroad.

Srivastava also said because of regular and continuous
deployments of their husbands, the wives of CRPF personnel
come across various hardships and she would make "all efforts
to help them".

"We have a CRPF wives welfare association to help women
of the force in all spheres of life but on this important day,
I wanted to reaffirm and assure them that they can directly
get in touch with us without thinking about protocols," she
said.
