CVC chief, CBI Director to prepare blueprint for 2

The apex court had on February 2 asked the CBI to file status reports on its ongoing probe into the 2G spectrum allocation case to CVC.

New Delhi: Central Vigilance Commissioner
Pradeep Kumar has convened a meeting with CBI Director A P Singh to discuss the modalities and prepare a blue print for
further investigations into the 2G scam.

Official sources said the meeting between the chiefs of
the anti-corruption watchdog and the investigating agency is
likely to be held this month.

They said a decision in this regard was taken by the CVC
officials following a judgement by the Supreme Court
overseeing the matter related to allocation of 2G licence to
certain telecom companies in 2008.

"CVC will meet the CBI Director this month to discuss
further course of action. The officials will discuss on the
issues related to 2G probe," a senior official privy to the
development said.

The official said the CVC was considering a fortnightly
meeting with CBI officials to monitor the investigation.

The apex court had on February 2 asked the CBI to file
status reports on its ongoing probe into the 2G spectrum
allocation case to CVC.

The court`s decision came on a plea for setting up a
Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the 2G case.

The
bench has asked CBI to submit status reports on further
investigation into the matter to the CVC, which will assist
the court.

The Supreme Court has also cancelled 122 2G licenses
given to telecom companies holding that they were issued in a
"totally arbitrary and unconstitutional manner" and asked the
government to initiate process to allot fresh licences based
on auction of spectrum.

"The Commission will abide by the court`s directive and
chalk out a detailed plan to decide on the proceedings. The
meeting will also be attended by the CBI officials involved in
the probe," the official said.
