New Delhi: To streamline vigilance mechanism
and ensure stricter check on corruption, the CVC has decided
to introduce a slew of measures including assessment of work
done by Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO).
CVC officials said the Commission has instructed all
ministries, departments, public sector units and banks among
other central government-run entities to strictly report all
vigilance related activities taken up by them to check illegal
practises.

They said the Chief Vigilance Officers (CVO), who act as
nodal authority to maintain transparency and keep corruption
at bay, have been directed by the Commission to report in a
prescribed format all vigilance related activities and their
results.

The move, officials say, assumes importance as the
Commission was regularly receiving complaints from various
quarters on alleged discrepancies in vigilance works taken up
by CVOs.
"We have asked CVOs to submit a monthly performance
report giving details of all works done by them. The purpose
is to maintain transparency and check graft," an official
said.

The CVC acts as country`s top anti-corruption body
mandated to monitor and advise central government departments
in planning, executing, reviewing and reforming their
vigilance work.

"Based on the performance report of the CVOs, the
Commission will take corrective action or measures to further
support the good practises," he said.

The probity watchdog is probing various key cases
including Commonwealth Games related projects for alleged
graft.
