Delhi Assembly polls: AAP has drawn people`s attention, says Sheila Dikshit

New Delhi: With high hopes to win the upcoming Assembly elections in the national capital post a hat-trick, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said on Tuesday that she is both confident and nervous for the December elections. While admitting that no one can read into a voter`s mind, the Delhi CM in an interview to a TV channel said, "Can`t say which way the voter`s will go. As a voter, one may think may be another party can do better. That question mark in the voters` minds has to be removed." The reason of the Dikshit being nervous about the polls could be the newly formed Aam Aadmi Party, which is claiming to sweep the 2013 Delhi Assembly polls. But on the other hand, the Chief Minister who is eyeing an unprecedented fourth successive victory in upcoming Assembly polls did not rule out that AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal has caught the people`s imagination to a certain extent. While answering that whether AAP can turn the peoples support into votes, Dikshit said, "Arvind Kejriwal lacks vision so I do not expect that people will cast their votes to the Aaam Aadmi Party." "I don`t know what impact Kejriwal`s party will have in the election. BJP is our main contender and the fight will be between us," she said. While replying to a question on whether Dikshit was concerned over AAP`s campaign against her government, she said, "The situation is not very clear as of now. It will be clear once the parties announce their candidates." AAP has decided to field candidates in all 70 constituencies. The party had last week claimed it was on course to form the next government in Delhi. AAP had come out with a survey which showed the party was leading in 33 of 70 assembly seats in capital. The party has been attacking Delhi government on a number of issues including power and water tariff and alleged corruption. Asked to comment on fissures in Delhi BJP over the Chief Ministerial candidate, Dikshit refuse to comment but said people have the right to know who is the party`s face for the election. When asked about spiralling onion prices in the city, she said, "There has been an increase in prices of onion across the country and the Delhi government has always tried to provide the commodity at a reasonable price through various means." Dikshit said unprecedented rains in a number of onion growing states have resulted in shortage of the vegetable.
