New Delhi: With Centre agreeing to the creation of a separate Telengana state, its hands are full with demands of at least nine other new states, including Mithilanchal in Bihar, Coorg in Karnataka and Saurashtra in Gujarat.

Home Ministry officials said the demands were mostly received from political parties and organisations like Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) and some individuals.

After conceding the demand of one of the most vocal organisations - Telengana Rashtra Samiti - for creation of Telengana state, comprising Telengana region in Andhra Pradesh, the Centre may encounter fresh demands of GJM, which has been putting pressure to carve out Gorkhaland state out of Darjeeling and its adjoining areas in West Bengal.

The demand for creation of Bundelkhand state, comprising districts like Banda, Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Sagar of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh have been pending for long with the ministry, an official said.

Though no state government has given any recommendation, which is mandatory for carving out a new state, the demands continue to pour in.

A demand for creation of Bhojpur state comprising areas of Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar has also been received by the Ministry.

Another demand for creation of a new state comprising Saurastha region of Gujarat, one of the most prosperous states in the country, has also been pending with the Ministry for several years now.

What a heartening situation!!!... This is the worst thing that can happen. Let hundreds of people sit for fasts-unto death and ask for hundreds of states... Shame on these people who are asking for separate States and are actually dividing the whole country in the name of lack of development and proper authority and decade long sufferings, citing many reasons so on and so forth. If it is only for the better development that is possible with smaller states then why not scrap the concept of `States` at all and have Chief Ministers for each and every district. And if the reasons are so called ``Genuine-Demands``, then believe me time is not far when we have 8-9 States more coming up because people advocating for those 8-9 states have also ``Genuine-Demands``...
I empathize with people who say nobody is concerned about their sufferings but I am not sure if surely they will really benefit out of the creation of a new state as we all know the current status of already present status. The only solution is to have highly accountable authorities at the highest and the lowest levels..The solution is simple to read and understand but most difficult to implement.

Believe me, this is not about Telangana...We are yet to see the fall out of this
