Deoband, Arya Samaj join hands to fight corruption

Members of Arya Samaj community and Darul Uloom Deoband on Friday pledged to launch a collective battle against corruption, in a conference held in Badaut town in the district.

Social activist Swami Agnivesh, who was invited as the
chief guest at the conference held to promote communal harmony
among people, said that corruption is the biggest challenge
faced by the country today and the people will have to launch
a "collective battle" to defeat the menace.

Raising the issue of black money stashed abroad, he said,
"Lakhs of crores of black money is stashed abroad and the
government is not taking appropriate measures to bring it
back. It is the people`s money and we will have to fight to
get it back."

Maulana Ehteshamul Hasan of Deoband said that it is
essential to promote communal harmony in the country and we
can only progress when we work together to deal with our
problems.
Issues like dowry, female foeticide and alcoholism were
also deliberated in the conference.
