Bagpat (UP): Members of Arya Samaj community and Darul Uloom Deoband on Friday pledged to launch a collective battle against corruption, in a conference held in Badaut town in the district.

Social activist Swami Agnivesh, who was invited as the chief guest at the conference held to promote communal harmony among people, said that corruption is the biggest challenge faced by the country today and the people will have to launch a "collective battle" to defeat the menace.

Raising the issue of black money stashed abroad, he said, "Lakhs of crores of black money is stashed abroad and the government is not taking appropriate measures to bring it back. It is the people's money and we will have to fight to get it back."

Maulana Ehteshamul Hasan of Deoband said that it is essential to promote communal harmony in the country and we can only progress when we work together to deal with our problems.

Issues like dowry, female foeticide and alcoholism were also deliberated in the conference.

How come Arya Samaj under Swami Agnivesh never discusses (forced) conversion, which leads to social disharmony between communities?
