New Delhi: Hitting back hard, Digvijay Singh on Tuesday furnished details proving that he had talked to ATS chief Hemant Karkare hours before he died fighting Pakistani terrorists on 26/11 in Mumbai.
Addressing a press conference here, Digvijay said, “I agree that Pakistan terrorists were involved in 26/11, but it is also true that I had talked with Hemant Karkare on that day. During the talks he had expressed pain that his integrity is being questioned.”
Furnishing the proof, Digvijay showed a letter from BSNL Bhopal containing details about all the calls made from his phone on November 26, 2008.
As per the call details, Digvijay had got a call on his mobile 09425015461 from the landline phone of Mumbai ATS 022-23087336 at 5.44 pm.
However, he accepted that no records can be furnished about the exact contents of the call.
Now that the record is available Digvijay expected an apology from all those who called him a liar.
In fact, he has even written a letter to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister RR Patil seeking apology for claiming that no call was made from the ATS chief to Digvijay on that date.

Digvijay Singh also kicked off another controversy today by thinking loud: “Why is that no major terror incident have occurred after the Malegaon bomb blast case was cracked - apart from the Pune bakery blast and the Varanasi incident,” implying that he feared that the same module was behind other major terror incidents in the country.
He went on to say that Swami Aseemanand, who is in custody over the Samjhauata Express and Hyderabad Mecca Masjid blast cases had organised a congregation – Shabari Kumbh - at his ashram located in Dang district of Gujarat in 2006, which was attended by then RSS chief KS Sudarshan, current chief Mohan Bhagwat , Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders.
He then pointed out that Malegaon accused – as per the chargesheet filed by the Maharashtra ATS – have accepted that the conspiracy to carry out the bomb blast was hatched during the Shabari Kumbh.
‘I am not saying that they (top brass of BJP and RSS) were involved, but the accused were there at that time,” he added.
“Swami Aseemanand is in custody, if he is interrogated then everything will come out. Why is the BJP pained when they (those with terror links) are caught, why do they come out in open defending them. Why is that they (BJP) protest when fingers are pointed at Indresh,” he said attacking the BJP. Senior RSS functionary Indresh Kumar has been under the scanner over his alleged links to the Ajmer blast.
“I want that BJP and the RSS and their affiliates should mull over their support to such people,” he quipped.
“I want that all the terror cases currently being probed in the country be probed by one agency, the National Investigating Agency,” he said while accusing the Madhya Pradesh government of trying to hide facts in connection with terror cases which are under investigation in the case.
The Congress general secretary pointed out that Congress has never compromised on the issue of terrorism.
“No one should support any anti-national, whether he may be from majority or minority community,” he said.
