Bhopal: Ramesh Thete, a dismissed IAS
officer of the 1993 batch, who had threatened self-immolation
before the Prime Minister`s office, Monday withdrew his plan
following assurances of his re-instatement.
Thete said from Jabalpur that he had received
positive assurances from both New Delhi and Bhopal
about his re-instatement.
"The process for my re-instatement has begun and hence
there is no need for me to commit self-immolation," Thete
said.
The officer was dismissed on bribery charges and had said
a few days ago that he would take the extreme step if was not
taken back into service.
He said that he had been cleared long back of the
bribery charge both by the High Court and the Supreme Court.
