EC announces bypolls schedule

New Delhi: Bypolls for Kolkata Dakshin Lok Sabha seat, which was vacated by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee following her election to the state Assembly, and eight Assembly constituencies across 6 states will be held on November 30, the Election Commission said on Tuesday.

Assembly bypolls will be held in Nalagarh and Rainka (SC) in Himachal Pradesh, Ratia (SC) and Adampur in Haryana, Umerkote (ST) in Orissa, Laukaha in Bihar, Mandu in Jharkhand and Bellary in Karnataka.

Mamata won Bhawanipore seat to make her debut in the state Assembly as its elected member.

The notification for the Bellary bypoll will be issued on Friday, November 4. Notifications for the other bypolls will be issued on November 5, the EC said.

For the Bellary bypoll, the last date for filing nominations is November 11. The nominations will be scrutinised the next day.

The last date for withdrawal of candidature is November 15.

For the other bypolls, the last date for filing nominations is November 12. The nominations will be scrutinised on November 14.

The last date for withdrawal of candidature is November 16.

The counting of votes of all the bypolls will be held on December 4.
